We are fully recovered thank-you - although recovery was not really required after such a lovely and relaxing holiday! Pet was just a godsend for us. Both our boys adored him from the first day and he took away our only real anxiety (which was driving without child-restraints). Maria spoiled our children dreadfully, hand-feeding them sugar pancakes every morning and indulging almost every whim. Riley now speaks quite a bit of Bahasa Indonesia and has an addiction to satay and banana pancakes, while Jack is in love with the Ramayana and tells everyone about the techniques for wet rice harvest. We bought them both their own temple outfits so they can pretend to be Balinese boys ("like Pet's boy"). Luckily for us, we are still drinking Bali coffee thanks to Sanu's wife who gave us a gift of over a kilogram of coffee. We gave Sanu some washable nappies to help him get a bit of sleep at night. We hope to come back for another visit in the future and we would be quite happy to reassure your two teachers about security. Both John and I stayed on our own at the house with the boys and had absolutely no concerns at all. It is quite odd to feel at once so remote and at the same time so close to so many people. As you know there are many neighbors and many dogs on your street - all of whom warn loudly of the approach of any person. Jacky made friends with the owners of the property with the rice fields (as he went out each morning to work in the fields in Wayan's hat!). He was often chatting to them over the fence which reminded us that the incredible feeling of privacy is an illusion. We managed the cliffs and unfenced pool fairly easily. Obviously, constant vigilance was required but we were supported by all the staff and our children obeyed the basic rules most of the time. Bij aankomst een beetje verward, maar na één telefoontje naar Pet kwam Sanu ons al snel ophalen bij Waka Namya. Bij aankomst gelijk verkocht, wat een uitzicht. Wel effe een brommertje gehuurd voor de late thuiskomst na een bezoek aan een van de vele geweldige restaurantjes. Patrick Driesman & Jacquline, Amsterdam, Holland, 29 Sep – 4 Oct We had a wonderful time at VanaPrasha, and we thank you for allowing us to stay in your beautiful home.(We have written a whole page in your guest book, and I enjoyed reading the entries, documenting your work on the property and friends and family who have also enjoyed this special place) We loved getting to know Sanu, Maria and Illu, and Pet was fabulous! By the end of the two weeks we felt like old friends. We visited Sanu and his wife and new baby and daughter at their home and took photos for you. As Louise and her friend Erin are studying Indonesian language and culture, Sanu showed us through his family compound, and he gave us a true insight into Balinese family life. The baby looks beautiful, and Sanu's wife seems healthy, if not a little tired! (I remember that feeling). Pet took us to some excellent craft places, and we are looking at importing some Balinese Kites to Australia in the near future. Sanu took the girls and myself to the food markets, and I helped prepare a meal so I could learn the Balinese way. My father, Doug, could not wipe the smile off his face every day, loving the walks, the markets, the language and the beauty of the area....he is trying to find ways of convincing my mother to return with him sometime soon. If the kite idea 'takes off', we will certainly be planning a couple of return trips each year, and if available, VanaPrasha will become our base. I think I can speak for everyone in our party that a little piece of their heart was left at VanaPrasha. We will definitely tell people we know who would appreciate and care about your home, and also about Pet, who made getting around so simple. Wij sluiten ons aan; gingen met moeite op pad, bleven het liefst op ieder uur van de dag genieten van alle hoeken van deze oneindige propriété. ‘s Ochtends vroeg op de bank van de jungle bungalow, een heerlijk ontbijt in de wind op het terras, “het schip”, zwemmen, lezen, dromen, luieren, van een buikgriep bijkomen, tekenen, een mooi insect observeren, eendjes voeren, lunchen, ommetje door de sawa’s, zwemmen, thee in de bale over de vallei en ga zo maar door. The fact that there is not a driveway to the place might make it difficult for some (i.e. people like my mother), but we came to truly enjoy the walk and became very adept at the night time crossing. As for other aspects - your gardens are absolutely gorgeous, as is the pool. The staff makes fabulous meals - the best in Bali. De auto stopte en wij dachten dat we al bij de villa waren. Mispoes, we moesten nog ongeveer 400 meter door de sawa's lopen(wel een pad van beton van ongeveer 50 cm breed) om er te komen. Het personeel stond ons al op te wachten en gingen direkt naar de auto om de koffers op te halen. Dat mochten wij pertinent niet doen. De dames Maria en Ilu kwamen met elk een, ongeveer 20 a 25 kilo, koffer op het hoofd aan lopen. We voelden ons erg opgelaten. Na het zeewindje in Lovina was ook deze villa een verademing.
